Roadworks will commence to improve the A6096 in July 2021.
Derbyshire County Council, as highway authority, are intending to introduce two traffic islands at each of the three junctions namely
Moor Lane Junction
Hagg Lane and Arbour Hill Junction
Cat and Fiddle Junction
These are traffic islands to protect right turning traffic into the side roads and improve overall road safety around the junction. They are not designed for pedestrian usage.
The work is likely to last for a period of eight/ten weeks using temporary traffic signals to keep traffic disruption to a minimum. We would expect the work to be carried out one junction at a time.
Before the end of financial year there are also proposals to reduce the speed limit along the A6096 between Spondon and Kirk Hallam to 50mph subject to no objections being received. This is presently in the process of being advertised.
The double white line system along this road will also be reviewed as part of this speed limit proposal.
